AVA Premier #3

LVC 18U Men Win Gold

LVC Impact U18 Boys Volleyball Team won Gold in the Alberta Volleyball Premier Tourney #3 in Calgary on March 8th & 9th.  This is the 3rd straight gold for LVC Impact at Alberta Volleyball event.

Tourney results:

In round robin pool play: LVC Impact beat RVC Russlers (from Lloydminster), and Canuck Aikido (Calgary), followed by Red Deer Kings Black.   The scores vs the Kings were 22-25, 41-39, and 15-12 for LVC.

In the Quarter final game LVC beat Grande Prairie Wolves in 2 straight sets 25-18, and 25-15.

In the Semi-final game LVC beat Canuck Black (Calgary) in 2 sets to 1.

In the Championship final LVC beat Red Deer Kings Black 2 sets to 1; with scores of 25-17, 15-25, and 15-7.

Players to mention:  The middle Josh Zoeteman (LCI) and Ian Torrance (Med Hat) really shut down the opponents offence as they came up with large numbers of blocks throughout the whole tournament but especially in the championship final.  Logan Unreigner (Med Hat) also came in with some big kills out of the middle in the Championship final 3 set for some timely kills to put the match away.  "It was great having libero Braedon Schmold (LCI) back in the line-up for this tourney after having him miss the last tourney while he was on a family trip.  He passed really well the whole tourney and added some great defensive digs as well." coach Dustin McCubbing.

"After winning 3 consective tourneys we are not going to go into the next tourney with a must win attitude, but rather, we are going to concentrate on playing well as a team and executing with consistency.  We want to make sure that we are constantly improving in each tourney leading up to and including provincials." Dustin McCubbing.

The next Alberta Premier Tourney #4 will take place in Grande Prairie on March 29th & 30th.

Thanks
